Victoria is building the Greater Shepparton College (interim name), which will accommodate between 2700 and 3000 students. The new college, created by merging Shepparton’s four existing public secondary schools, will be built on the current Shepparton High School site.
Three of the existing secondary schools will continue as campuses while we construct the new college buildings.
Transition arrangements, including free transport, have been developed after significant consultation with local schools. These will minimise disruption on student learning while we get on with the job of construction.
The new school will ensure every student in the Greater Shepparton region has access to the broadest range of subjects, dedicated health and wellbeing teams, and increased training opportunities and education pathways.

School Design
Greater Shepparton College’s (interim name) contemporary new facilities are designed to improve learning.
The facilities will allow the school to offer students broader choices, new opportunities and better support.
Facilities will include:
- ‘houses’ and ‘neighbourhoods’
- an Enterprise and Innovation Centre featuring specialist precincts for technology, performing and fine arts and sciences student support, wellbeing and careers areas
- a learning resource centre (library)
- a gymnasium with at least two competition-sized basketball and netball courts, fitness and weights room, dance and yoga spaces
- outdoor learning spaces
- a choice of learning settings, general and specialist zones
- VCE study space
- a full-sized oval
- a soccer pitch (Ford Reserve)
Transition
Starting from 2020, all Year 7s will start at McGuire Campus where the program will be specifically designed to enhance literacy and numeracy skills and extend critical thinking.
All Year 9s will attend the Mooroopna Campus, where they will study a specalised curriculum, crafted specifically for their needs.
Shepparton High School students will move to the Wanganui Park Campus (except Years 7 and 9).
Mooroopna Secondary College’s year 8s and 10s will remain where they are, while Mooroopna’s 11s and 12 students will move to either the Wanganui Park Campus or McGuire Campus, depending on their subject selections.
We will work with local schools and the community to minimise disruption to students and their families, and to ensure that transport and school bus services are configured so that students can get to school.

Transport
Free travel assistance has been announced for students attending the Greater Shepparton College (interim name) until it opens on a single campus.
Free travel during the transition period will be available to students that currently use the School Bus Program and those new to the program. In addition, government secondary school students travelling on public transport to the college will have ticket costs fully reimbursed through the Conveyance Allowance Program until the single campus opens.
