“Coronavirus doesn’t just affect you if you’re Chinese or Asian heritage, it can affect everyone regardless of ethnicity … the virus has nothing to do with race. Victims of coronavirus-fuelled racism in Australia are speaking out about its impact – YOU can report this racism, It is very important to do so – everyone who has migrated and settled here has a right to be here.
This reporting mechanism is a project by activist and writer Erin Chew, media outlet “Being Asian Australian” (www.beingasianaustralian.net) and advocacy network the “Asian Australian Alliance” (www.asianaustralianalliance.net). It is a project collaborated with Research Fellow at the Per Capita thinktank and policy analyst/writer Osmond Chiu. Partners to this project include Democracy in Colour and Diversity Arts Australia.
Responses to this reporting mechanism will be used for analytical purposes as well as help in creating campaigns in raising the voices for Asians and Asian Australians in Australia. The only way we will be able to speak up against this racism is by reporting it and putting it out in the mainstream.
Please Note: All responses will be kept confidential, and if follow up or usage of the incident is required, we will contact you directly to seek further information and/or follow up.
If you have any questions, please contact Erin Chew by email on info@asianaustralianalliance.net .
