Maryna Sliusar moved to Australia from Ukraine in May 2022 with her son, fleeing the war with Russia.
Speaking at GOTAFE’s Refugee Week student event on Tuesday, June 20, Ms Sliusar shared her journey to finding safety and how education was shaping her future.
“This full-scale Russian invasion has divided our lives into before and after,” Ms Sliusar said.
GOTAFE will be celebrating World Refugee Day on the 20th of June at the Shepparton Campus and the Wangaratta Campus. Dedicated to honouring refugees around the world, World Refugee Day commemorates the 50th anniversary of the 1951 Convention relating to the Status of Refugees with this year’s theme being “Finding Freedom”.
Ethnic Council of Shepparton and District in collaboration with GOTAFE will present a session on obtaining the Learner’s Permit for driving a car on the roads. This will take place at GOTAFE, Fryer St, Shepparton on Friday 16 November from 1 – 2pm.
On Wednesday Shepparton resident Liaqat Amadhi flies to Dubai as an Australian representative at the three-day Arab Youth International Model United Nations conference in the United Arab Emirates city, thanks to the support of his school, The Fairley Foundation, Greater Shepparton City Council, the Ethnic Council of Shepparton and Goulburn Ovens TAFE.
Primary Care Connect is continuing its push to empower individuals to be socially included and connected through its UCAN project. As part of the project, PCC will this month launch the 50 Days, 50 Ways Challenge which encourages people to participate in 50 days of activities.
