Ms Athena Papadatos has joined the Ethnic Council of Shepparton and District in a new role of Self Advocacy Teams Leader for multicultural people with a disability in the Shepparton area and the Goulburn Valley. Ms Athena Papadatos provides an outline of her role in a video.
Ms Athena Papadatos – District Team Leader for multicultural Advocacy and Disability gives one video below which outlines the services which will be provided to disabled people from a multicultural community:
- Monthly Self Advocacy Group
- Training for CALD disabled people
- Awareness sessions on NDIS and Covid-19
- Rights advocacy for CALD Disabled
- Training on letter writing and complaints
- Self-advocacy awareness training
Sessions conducted by Ms Athena Papadatos will:
- Raise awareness about what self-advocacy means.
- Deliver Self-advocacy awareness training and information forums in CALD communities
- Support CALD peer-led networks and groups activities to empower people with disability, their carers and their families
