Self Advocacy and Disability

Ms Athena PapadatosMs Athena Papadatos has joined the Ethnic Council of Shepparton and District in a new role of Self Advocacy Teams Leader for multicultural people with a disability in the Shepparton area and the Goulburn Valley. Ms Athena Papadatos provides an outline of her role in a video.


Ms Athena Papadatos – District Team Leader for multicultural Advocacy and Disability gives one video below which outlines the services which will be provided to disabled people from a multicultural community:

  • Monthly Self Advocacy Group
  • Training for CALD disabled people
  • Awareness sessions on NDIS and Covid-19
  • Rights advocacy for CALD Disabled
  • Training on letter writing and complaints
  • Self-advocacy awareness training

 

 

Sessions conducted by Ms Athena Papadatos will:

  • Raise awareness about what self-advocacy means.
  • Deliver Self-advocacy awareness training and information forums in CALD communities
  • Support CALD peer-led networks and groups activities to empower people with disability, their carers and their families
