The EnCOMPASS: Multicultural Aged Care Connector program is a partnership between FECCA and local community organisations to provide navigational support to older people of Culturally And Linguistically Diverse (CALD) backgrounds and their communities to access the aged care system and other supports.
The Centre will conduct online inclusion workshops detailing how to welcome and include volunteers from diverse backgrounds. These workshops will address engaging with volunteers from people living with disabilities, people of all cultures and Australian First Nations. The workshops will be held over three days during May 2022.
The Australian Institute of Family Studies auspicing Child Family Community Australia will conduct an online webinar on Tuesday, 3 May, from 1pm-2pm on the topic of Approaches to support child mental health in culturally and linguistically diverse communities. Children and families from CALD backgrounds can experience challenges that may affect their mental health and wellbeing. They can also face barriers to accessing and engaging with services.
The Australian Electoral Commission needs to employ around 100,000 people right across Australia for the election on Saturday 21 May. People can earn extra money, and training is provided. Bi-lingual people and people from CALD community are welcome to apply.
The English language education department at Goulburn Ovens Institute of TAFE in Shepparton has put out a call for volunteers to become tutors for migrants and refugees. The volunteers will work with students who have moved to Shepparton from many other countries, including Afghanistan, Congo, Thailand and Iraq.
Shepparton Culture Kitchen offered an experience of Samoan food and culture at Kidstown on Saturday 2nd April. Many people participated and experienced the culinary delights of food cooked in the traditional Samoan cultural fashion.
Mission Australia’s Youth Survey 2022 is now open and young people aged 15 to 19 in regional Victoria are invited to take part. Young people aged 15 to 19 in regional Victoria can share their perspectives on key issues – in their lives – in Mission Australia’s Youth Survey 2022.
Speak Up is a primary and early intervention project designed to promote gender equity among multicultural young people in Victoria. With meaningful youth participation at the heart of this project, Speak Up! will provide a platform for inclusion of young people’s perspectives and solutions, through supporting them to mobilise and contribute to gender equity and violence prevention amongst peers and the broader community.
St Paul’s African House is hosting a fundraising event, Paint with Nickel, to help keep the organisation alive.
St Paul’s African House partnerships and programs manager Kate Radevski said the event would be an intimate setting for attendees to see Mr Mundabi in all his artistic glory.
“It’ll be an opportunity for people to meet Nickel, learn more about his art and a little bit more about him and see his incredible talent,” she said.
