African Women’s Media Project


These resources were created by the Centre for Culture, Ethnicity and Health for African Women – the women raised concerns about children’s asthma, diabetes and long waits for GP appointments. Languages provided are English, Arabic, Somali, Tigrigna.


These resources were created by the Centre for Culture, Ethnicity and Health (CEH) and a group of women from the City of Yarra to raise understanding of health & well-being issues of interest to their communities.

The women raised concerns about children’s asthma, diabetes and long waits for GP appointments.

To answer the project participants’ questions about the health system, we interviewed Dr Alaeldin Elmalik, Rehabilitation Specialist and eminent health professional based in Melbourne.
