Australia’s keenly awaited COVID vaccine rollout begins today, with the ultimate goal of vaccinating all Australians by October.

Can I choose which vaccine I get? No, there won’t be a choice for the average person. The current initial rollout of the Pfizer vaccine isn’t enough doses to vaccinate all of Australia. So the first people vaccinated with the Pfizer vaccine will be frontline health-care workers, including aged care and hotel quarantine officers.

The AstraZeneca vaccine will be produced for the general public. It’s hoped that will be rolled out during March.

The Australian Government advises that the first doses of the Pfizer vaccine are expected to be available in Victoria from 22 February 2021 to allow us to start vaccinating the first Victorians, subject to shipping and distribution.

The rollout of other vaccines, including the Oxford/AstraZeneca (AstraZeneca) vaccine, will depend on the Australian Government’s regulatory approval, volume and the timing of doses becoming available.

During the vaccine rollout it is critical that we all continue to be COVIDSafe.

Orange Door to open in central Shepparton

The Orange Door

Recruitment is under way for a new domestic violence support hub in Shepparton, slated to open its doors in the coming weeks.

The Orange Door network, a free service for people of all ages and backgrounds, will provide advice and support for families and children experiencing or affected by family violence.

The service — a partnership between Family Safety Victoria and local providers including Rumbalara Aboriginal Co-operative, FamilyCare, Primary Care Connect and Nexus Primary Health — will also offer advice to support someone to seek help.
