The Ethnic Communities Council of Victoria is hosting a community consultation workshop on 9 March at the Greek Centre for a national research project on climate change and how to best empower multicultural communities to take part in climate action. All participants will receive $50 for their time. The project is led by FECCA and the Multicultural Leadership Initiative.
Victoria, like much of Australia and the world at large, is in the midst of experience some of the most extreme weather patterns in human history. Climate disasters like the 2021 floods and the 2019-20 bushfires have shown us just how critical it is to urgently address climate change and ensure that all Australians, including our diverse multicultural communities, are empowered to be a part of the conversation and decision-making process on climate solutions.
We invite Victorians from migrant and refugee backgrounds to attend this workshop and share their thoughts on climate change and their insights on how to effectively engage members of their community to take action.
We would particularly like to hear from:
- Multicultural and multifaith community leaders
- Workers in the climate movement from migrant and refugee backgrounds
- Workers in the multicultural sector
- Young people from migrant and refugee backgrounds
- People from migrant and refugee backgrounds who are highly active on social media
All workshop participants will receive $50 as thanks for their time and effort. Light refreshments will be provided at the workshop.
If you have any questions, get in touch via email at eccv@eccv.org.au.
