New website tool improves access to cancer information
Cancer Council Victoria has launched ‘Recite Me’, an online accessibility toolkit for its website. This tool will help increase access to cancer information for thousands of Australians who experience online barriers due to a vision or hearing impairment, learning disability, or who use another language at home (22.8 per cent).

When you visit Cancer Council Victoria’s website you will now see ‘Accessibility Toolbar’ in the top right-hand corner. When you click the link, colourful little boxes will then appear at the top the page, allowing you to access the following features:

  • Screen reader reads content aloud in English and 35+ languages
  • Content can be downloaded as an audio file
  • Text, font, colour and contrast options including Open-Dyslexic font
  • Reading tools: magnifier, reading ruler and screen mask
  • Plain text only option for keyboard navigation
  • Integrated dictionary and thesaurus
  • Acceptable translations of all content, including PDFs, into 100+ languages (not Google translate), including audio/text to speech
