Law Week – Cultural Diversity in the Law

Law Week - Cultural Diversity in the Law

Victorian Law Week is for everyday Victorians. Victorians need access to vital information about their legal rights and responsibilities. It’s a state-wide program of events that help people to identify the law in common problems, understand their rights, find legal help and learn more about the law.

From 15 – 21 May there are in-person and online events happening across the state, including webinars, information sessions, free legal advice, and plenty more to inform, assist and entertain you, wherever you may be. On the First day of Law Week, there is a program on Cultural Diversity and the Law.

Stream the County Court of Victoria’s insightful panel discussion on the importance of diversity in the law.

First held as part of Victorian Law Week 2021, the culturally diverse panel, featuring Diversity Committee Co-Chair Judge Pillay, and Court staff and associates, discuss what diversity means to them, the importance of diversity in the law, how representation has changed over the years, and how the Court can ensure it is an institution that reflects the diversity of the broader community.

In this important discussion, the panellists share their personal challenges and reflect on their experiences.
