African Communities Prevent Violence Against Women Leadership Course

Prevent viloence against womenAMES Australia is now seeking socially engaged men and women from diverse African communities to undertake this high level course aimed at the Prevention of Violence Against Women. The course takes place in Melton on two Saturdays, 17th and 24th of August.


Violence against women occurs across the social spectrum and in all cultures.

Australia is a global leader in strategies to prevent and reduce violence against women. Since 2017 AMES Australia has been running an innovative senior level leadership course in Prevention of Violence Against Women.

For 2019 this course will be specifically offered to Melbourne’s diverse African Communities. Participants will be equipped with the knowledge, understanding and skills to lead actions in their own linguistic communities, workplaces and the broader Australian community in violence prevention strategies.

What will you learn

Participants in the program will gain knowledge and skills in:

  • How to spread awareness of violence against women and prevention strategies.
  • Public speaking skills and how to work with the media.
  • Insight from well-known facilitators, guest speakers and industry keynote speakers

Overview

Duration: 2 sessions run on Saturdays 17th & 24th August 2019 between 10am and 4pm

Course Location : Cameron Training Room, Melton Library and Learning Hub, 31 McKenzie Street, Melton VIC 3337

Program Fee: Free

Criteria: No prior experience essential. A commitment and interest to address gender equality is essential. Highly desirable is an understanding of the significance of prevention of violence against women.

Aged: 18+
