Cultural Precincts Tour

    The Ethnic Council of Shepparton and District will conduct a tour of cultural places of significance on March 29, 2019. The tour will include several mosques and the Sikh Gurduara. The tour is free and a lunch will be provided. Bookings are required.


    The Ethnic Council of Shepparton and District welcomes members of the broader community to participate in a day of discovery of Shepparton’s unique Multicultural community.The tour will start at the premises of the Ethnic Council at 9:00 am and finish around 4:00 pm.

    We will be visiting the Turkish Mosque, Afghani Mosque, Iraqi Mosque and the Gurdwara Sahib (Sikh temple).

    A lunch will be provided at the Afghani Mosque.

    As we will visiting places of various cultures and religions, cultural sensitivity needs to be acknowledged. As part the Muslim and Sikh traditions removal of shoes is required and the covering of hair before you enter their places of worship.

    For ladies, A scarf can be used to cover hair and socks may be needed when shoe removal is required.

    The Itinerary

    9.15 am — Departure (Ethnic Council Offices, Welsford St)
    9:30 am- Turkish Mosque (45 Minutes)
    12:15 pm — Afghani mosque (1 Hour and 30 Minutes)
    2.00 pm — Sikh Temple (45 minutes)
    3.00 pm — Iraqi Mosque (45 minutes)
    4.00 pm- Return back to the Ethnic Council- End of Tour
