Neighbourhoods of Covid-19: In conversation with Ali Al Battaat

In this Refugee Week special, Amnesty International Australia Refugee Campaigner Shankar Kasynathan will be in conversation with Ali Al Battaat, discussing how people with refugee backgrounds are making our neighbourhoods that much brighter, especially during the past few months!

Ali has dedicated himself to helping newcomers feel at home here. Right now he’s tirelessly translating information on family violence and mental health from English to Arabic, so more people can read them.

When: June 16, 7.30 – 9pm AEST
Where: via Zoom, https://amnestyau.zoom.us/j/91466160236

Ali Al Battaat is a 21-year-old social work student who arrived in Australia by boat as a refugee, and now is driving change with innovation, creativity and limited resources.

He’s creating videos in multiple languages aimed at preventing growing issues of family violence and education for the local multicultural community. “No-one should ever be left behind, no one should be left out, always, but particularly when you’re going through a crisis like COVID.”
