The National Community Recovery Summit is an open-invitation event for representatives of local communities, service providers, social and economic development practitioners and researchers, philanthropic bodies, advocacy organisations and representative bodies – to enable community voices to deliberate on, and to inform, how Australia can recover best from the COVID pandemic.

The focal areas of the summit will be:

  • Early childhood development
  • Social and affordable housing
  • Jobs, skills and enterprises
  • Engaging local communities

The National Community Recovery Summit will help build a roadmap for family, community and nation-building reforms and initiatives that enables local leadership and action. The roadmap will address vital gaps and challenges, often exposed or amplified by the pandemic, as well as what works and what’s changed. The goal is to contribute to how Australia can #getbettertogether and leave a positive legacy of a more inclusive, cohesive, resilient, prosperous, fair and sustainable Australia.

About Australia Together

Australia Together is an alliance of civil society organisations working together in the belief that Australia can #getbettertogether.

The Australia Together alliance believes that there’s a unique opportunity for Australia to build on the goodwill and collaboration seen through the COVID-19 pandemic to tackle some of the country’s enduring challenges, such as:

  • Early childhood development;
  • Social and affordable housing;
  • Jobs, skills and enterprises;
  • Engaging communities.

The Australia Together alliance is convening a national summit to be held on July 1 2020 to create an agenda for building long term prosperity and wellbeing in local communities hardest hit by the COVID-19 pandemic.

The National Community Recovery Summit will help build a roadmap for how national-level reforms and local leadership can combine to leave a positive legacy from the trauma of the pandemic.

We know that the best decisions are made when communities are given the opportunity to have their say – because local people know what works best in their local community.

Australia Together foundation partners include the Institute for Social Science Research, University of Qld; Logan Together; Every Child; Community Services Industry Alliance and Social Ventures Australia.
