Diversity & Disability program in Shepparton

Migrant Resource Centre, North West regionMigrant Resource Centre, North West region Inc, Melbourne is enabling a grant from Westpac Foundation. The fund will be used for Diversity & Disability program. This program provides support to people with a disability from a culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) background to speak for themselves and achieve their full potential as valued citizens of the community. Sessions will be conducted in Shepparton, each month. The first session will be at Shepparton South Community House on 15 September from 1-2:30pm


The Migrant Resource Centre, North West region, will conduct a monthly Self Advocacy Group from February until December 2021, at a location to be determined in Shepparton. These sessions are free, and designed to enable disabled people in multicultural communities to take up their own advocacy and speak up for themselves. A year long program, it will provide much support and many strategies.

These sessions will be for ethnic people with a disability who reside in Dandenong, Broadmeadows, Shepparton and Bendigo. This group will learn about the National Disability Insurance Scheme, human rights, education, relationships, new technologies, transport, employment and more. There will be 11 monthly sessions from February to December, including opportunities for one-on-one support outside the sessions, if requested.

The first session will be at Shepparton South Community House on 15 September from 1-2:30pm
