Wise Well Women Community Health Educator Program – Ethnic Council of Shepparton and District

Two Masters of Social Work students will be presenting on their project with the Wise Well Women Community Health Educator Program at Melbourne University School of Rural Health on Thursday 29 July at 5pm. This will be a Face-to-Face event as well as a Zoom event. The project is exploring the need for a social and emotional wellbeing (SEWB) safety protocol for multicultural (migrant and refugee) participants and facilitators involved in health and community care programs in regional and rural Australia.

This presentation is of the project by Jelena Milutinovic and Monica Dunn Masters of Social Work students completing a placement embedded within the University of Melbourne, Culturally Inclusive Rural

Healthcare evaluation of the Wise Well Women Community Health Educator Program. The project aims to explore the need for a social and emotional wellbeing safety protocol for multicultural (migrant and refugee) participants and facilitators (including facilitators from multicultural backgrounds) involved in health and community care programs in regional and rural Australia.

The objectives are to identify current multicultural social and emotional wellbeing strategies in use by health and community care providers and; to identify the gaps and needs for multicultural social and emotional wellbeing safety strategies for participants and facilitators (including facilitators from multicultural backgrounds) of programs.

The intended outcome is to develop a guiding framework offering ways to work across cultures in the form of a Multicultural Social and Emotional Wellbeing Protocol to be trialled and tested within the Wise Well Women Community Health Educator Program and evaluated by the Culture and Rural Health Program, Department of Rural Health, University of Melbourne.
