An eventful and emotional day for the IOC Refugee Olympic Team on Day 1 of #Tokyo2020! With many making their Olympic debut, they fought hard in the opening rounds, in the same spirit that they used to get here!
For too long, access to organised sport has been out of reach for many refugees. Refugee athletes have had to overcome obstacles and challenges to reach their dreams.
This is more than just playing sport. It is about creating an equal playing field for refugees. #cheerforrefugees
EOR is an acronym of the French name ‘Equipe Olympique des Refugies’ – in English, this is read as “Refugee Olympic Team”
