Raise Our Voices – Disability Self Advocacy

Raise Our Voices – Disability Self AdvocacyThe Raise our Voices program aims to develop self-advocacy skills and empower people from culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) communities living with disability.

The Raise our Voices program aims to develop self-advocacy skills and empower people from culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) communities living with disability.

Run by Ethnic Communities’ Council of Victoria, Raise Our Voices will:

  • Raise awareness about what self-advocacy means.
  • Deliver Self-advocacy awareness training and information forums in CALD communities
  • Support CALD peer-led networks and groups activities to empower people with disability, their carers and their families

ECCV will deliver the Raise Our Voices program across metropolitan Melbourne, Shepparton and Gippsland, collaborating with Migrant Resource Centre North West, the Ethnic Council of Shepparton & District and Gippsland Multicultural Services.

Raise our Voices will help people with disability build self-autonomy and self-confidence to voice concerns, gain greater understanding of how to access information, resolve issues and improve their ability to make their own choices and enhance self-management of NDIS plans and support services.

The program will improve understanding of the disability services system and support pathways for CALD Victorians with disability to ensure that disability services and the NDIS continue to respond to and include the needs of CALD consumers with disability, their families, careers and communities.

This is a free service.
