It’s hands on healthy work, that’s stress free, keeps you fit and delivers you a ‘healthy pay packet’. There’s a real romance to working outdoors in orchard fresh country air, all bathed in glorious Goulburn Valley sunshine.

It’s like a paid working holiday, you’ll make new friends and experience wonderful adventures. There is a requirement: Everyone working on farms and orchards needs to be double-vaccinated. Vaccination is a requirement for working on farms.


Select workers (including contractors, volunteers and students on placement) will be required to show evidence of their full vaccination, or medical exemption, to their employer from Friday 26 November 2021 in order to continue working outside their home. Agriculture and forestry workers, and those who do seasonal work on farms and orchards must be vaccinated as per the directions of the Victorian Government

  • The COVID-19 vaccines are free and safe .
  • Available to everyone in Australia over the age of 12 years old, regardless of visa status.
  • You do not need an Individual Healthcare Identifier or a Medicare card to get a COVID-19 vaccine.
  • When you get vaccinated no identifiable personal information will be shared with housing agencies or immigration.
  • Select workers in Victoria are required to be vaccinated against COVID-19. This includes farmers and all farm workers.
  • From 26 November, you must show evidence of being fully vaccinated against COVID-19 to work in the horticulture industry (farms) in Victoria.

Why you should get vaccinated

  • Helps protect your family, friends, and community.
  • Protect you from getting sick from COVID-19.
  • The vaccine is effective in preventing serious illness, hospitalisation, and death due to COVID-19.

You do not need a Medicare card or Individual Healthcare Identifier number to get vaccinated

  • Identification may include:
  • Medicare card (if you have one)
  • Student card
  • Refugee documents
  • If you do not have a photo identification such as a driver’s licence or passport, you can still get a COVID-19 vaccine

You can always get Vaccinated

  • If you do not have a Medicare card, you can choose to get an Individual Healthcare Identifier (IHI) number.
  • To do this, you will need to complete and submit a Request or update an Individual Healthcare Identifier form.
  • The Individual Healthcare Identifier is used to match the correct record to the person being treated – no clinical information is linked to the identifier.
