City of Greater SheppartonThe Chair plays an important role in leading a successful organisation and committee. They are vital in guiding the behaviour of the committee both in meetings and outside in order for the organisation to achieve its goals. A committee can be led through good governance and supporting documentation, however the Chair, in particular, monitors and guides committee members to make positive contributions. Committee Chair Training will be provided by City of Greater Shepparton on Tuesday 14 June, 2022, 10.00am – 11.30am


The Chair plays an important role in leading a successful organisation and committee. They are vital in guiding the behaviour of the committee both in
meetings and outside in order for the organisation to achieve its goals.

A committee can be led through good governance and supporting documentation, however the Chair, in particular, monitors and guides committee members to make positive contributions. This session is about developing committee Chairs to be effective in their role by breaking down the role of the Chair and workshopping ideas to positively influence culture and underperformance.

Topics include:

• Understanding the role of the Chair and their function in facilitating
effective meetings
• Preparing and taking ownership of the meeting agenda
• Facilitating open, respectful and constructive discussions between members
• Recognising dysfunctional committee behaviours
• Managing succession for Chair and committee members

Duration: 1.5 hours online
