Shepparton’s female immigrants will have a chance to forge new connections and learn more about opportunities locally, in a safe, female-only environment tonight. Ladies are encouraged to attend and interact with Shepparton Mayor, Councillor Seema Abdullah at the Cafe. This will take place at the Foodstore, 53 Fryer Street, on Friday 7 February from 10:00am.
An innovative new game based on traditional Snakes and Ladders is helping to prepare newly arrived refugees and migrants to pass the Australian citizenship test. English teachers at migrant and settlement agency AMES Australia devised the game that incorporates information needed to pass the citizenship test.

A fabulously successful sunny Sunday senior soccer match was played at the Lord’s Grounds on Sunday 17 November. After the positive and rewarding junior multicultural gala day earlier this season, Mansfield Soccer Club, the Mansfield chapter of Rural Australians for Refugees (RAR) and the Ethnic Council of Shepparton collaborated again to host a friendly senior soccer match.
Staff from the Ethnic Council of Shepparton and District visited Mansfield Primary School on Thursday, 14 November to share the story of immigration to Australia and the challenges faced on the journey. This event was organised in collaboration with Mansfield RAR (Rural Australians for Refugees).

The Ethnic Communities’ Council of Victoria and Diversity and Disability (DnD) share a belief that the most effective advocacy comes from people with a lived experience and therefore disability advocacy is strongest coming from people with disability. There will be a Self Advocacy Training and Feast for Ethnic people with disability at the Foodstore, Fryer St, Shepparton on Wednesday, 3 December, 2019.
