Walk in Her Shoes Tour – Shepparton Court – Ethnic Council of Shepparton and District

The Shepparton Magistrates’ Court Specialist Family Violence Service invites you to participate in the: “Walk in Her Shoes Tour” on 23 November at 9:00am

Attending court can be unfamiliar and stressful, especially for people affected by family violence. How does the Court support them through their court journey?

On this tour of the Specialist Family Violence Court at Shepparton you will walk in the footsteps of someone applying for a family violence intervention order. You will meet a family violence magistrate, court staff and community service providers who deliver the wrap-around supports as part of Victoria’s nation-leading family violence response.

At the end of the tour, you will have the chance to observe a courtroom in action.

Please note the following:

Allow some time to go through court security before the event.
To ensure a smooth entry through security do not bring sharp items / glass bottles / tools / lighters / torches / lasers to court.
Once inside the courtroom please observe court etiquette: do not take photos / have your mobile phone switched on / use electronic devices / eat, drink or chew gum / wear a hat or sunglasses.

Please join us for a interactive experience of applying for an intervention order at the Shepparton Specialist Family Violence Court.

The tour provides a sense of the experience of applying for an intervention order. Aimed at professionals working within the family violence sector this will help you gain knowledge and understanding of the court process, including an overview of the supports available at court.
