Goulburn Child & Family Services Alliance: LGBTIQ Approaches to Family Violence

Prevent family violenceThe Goulburn Family Violence Executive and the Goulburn Child and Family Services Alliance invite you to our monthly information session where professionals present up to date information on our local services and happenings in the Family Violence space. The Goulburn Family Violence Executive and the Goulburn Child and Family Services Alliance are delighted to be joined by Matthew Parsons this month, Friday, 27 October 2023.

A growing body of evidence show the LGBTQ people experience family violence at similar and in some case higher rates than non-LGBTQ people. Despite this, there is still a disparity in safe and appropriate family violence service access for these victim-survivors. Evidence also shows that most LGBTQ want to access mainstream family violence services which are known or accredited as LGBTIQA+ inclusive. This session will provide a short overview of the unique issues faced by these communities, the work that has happened to date in Victoria and how you can contribute to these efforts building a service system where people of all genders and sexualities can live free from violence.
