Victorian Law Week 2024

Law Week - Cultural Diversity in the LawVictorian Law Week is from 20 – 26 May 2024. Victorian Law Week is for everyday Victorians. People need access to vital information about their legal rights and responsibilities. It’s a state-wide program of events that help people to identify the law in common problems, understand their rights, find legal help and learn more about the law. There will be several events in the Goulburn Valley, including Rental Rights event at the Shepparton Library.


More than 100 events are taking place across both metro and regional Victoria. Some of the events are in-person and some run online.

There are plenty of events covering understanding your rights, finding answers to questions, knowing what help is available and learning how our legal system works. As well as events exploring research, innovations and capacity building projects that are improving access to justice.

Rental repairs and your rights – Shepparton Library

Is your rental home in need of repairs? Renters are invited to this free pop-up event to ask all your burning questions about repairs in your home and your rights as a renter. Our expert staff and volunteers will provide guidance, answers and resources to help you to get repairs completed.

Family violence and the law

Event information

Inform yourself about the legal aspects of family violence with this free session. Haven Legal will take you through the definition of family violence and who to speak to if you’re experiencing it. You’ll also learn what lawyers can do if you’re applying for or facing an intervention order and how to understand court proceedings if you find yourself in that situation.
