Commonwealth Scholarships Program for Young AustraliansThe Commonwealth Scholarships Program for Young Australians – Grant Opportunity identifies Shepparton as a priority locality for eligibility for young people, in particular those from a CALD or ATSIC background. An overview of the program is given.

The Program was announced in the 2019-20 Budget as part of the Australian Government’s Skills Package, Delivering Skills for Today and Tomorrow. It will run over three years from early 2020 through to mid-2022. It is intended that there will be three Scholarship application rounds, unless the funds are expended earlier.

As part of the Program, scholars will be required to undertake a paid Internship for a period equivalent to 20 full time business days or equivalent, unless they undertake a mandatory work placement as part of their Approved Program of Study. Scholars will receive up to $3,000 for the paid Internship or work placement.

Priority will be given to people who have recently exited from the Australian Defence Force (ADF) regardless of age, Indigenous young Australians, young Australians with disability, and young Australians from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds.

The Program will be delivered in 10 regional locations in Australia: Grafton, Gosford, Shepparton, Armadale (WA), Wanneroo, Alice Springs, Townsville, Maryborough, Burnie and Port Pirie.
