Youth Engagement Grants

Youth Engagement Grants Round 2 Applications now open. Small multicultural and Aboriginal clubs and organisations are eligible to apply for grants to support projects that use cultural connection, sport, arts, music or other creative activities to engage young people. Applications close 4pm August 17.


The Youth Engagement Grants are part of the Victorian Government’s Building Safer Communities Program, a key initiative under the Crime Prevention Strategy which helps promote community safety and prevent crime in communities across Victoria.

The Youth Engagement Grants are open to small multicultural and Aboriginal clubs and organisations to support children and young people aged 8 to 24 make positive life choices, establish strong community connections and prevent contact with police and the justice system.

The grants will support projects that use cultural connection, sport, arts, music or other creative activities to engage children and young people.

The grants also support smaller community organisations build their capacity to engage with their community to implement local solutions and to provide early support to children and young people and connect them with other supports and services as needed.

Available funding

Up to $50,000 per project over 2 years.

Who can apply

Multicultural and Aboriginal clubs and organisations clubs that have an annual income of less than $500,000 and are incorporated or can partner with an incorporated organisation.

What can be funded

Funds can be used for new activities or to continue existing activities such as:

  • strengthening young people’s connection to community and culture through sports, arts, and music
  • supporting young people’s connection to education, training and pathways to employment, such as developing life skills and experience
  • offering young people opportunities to participate in supportive activities during school holidays.

Information sessions

An information session for Round 2 of the Youth Engagement Grants was held online at 6pm on 26 July 2022.

The session provided an overview of the grants program, including:

  • why the Victorian Government is funding these grants
  • information about eligibility criteria
  • the application process.

Child Safety Webinars

Child Safety Webinars will be held online on the following dates:

  • Wednesday 27 July
  • Wednesday 10 August
  • Saturday 13 August.

These webinars will provide information on Victoria’s 11 Child Safe Standards (External link), which came into effect on 1 July 2022.

Organisations interested in applying for a Youth Engagement Grant are strongly encouraged to attend one of the webinars.
