Not everyone who needs aged care speaks and reads English. The Australian Government Department of Health wants to make it easier for senior Australians to access the aged care information they need in their chosen language, and easier for you to provide it.

The Australian Government Department of Health wants to make it easier for senior Australians to access the aged care information they need in their chosen language, and easier for you to provide it.

To assist, we’re providing a free translation service to make it easier for you to translate or interpret information on the care and services you provide. This service is available for audiences with diverse needs and backgrounds such as multicultural communities, people who are deaf or hard of hearing, people who are blind or have low vision and Aboriginal peoples and Torres Strait Islanders.

The ‘Better connecting with diverse audiences’ website will include tools and resources in many languages over the coming months.

The Australian Government Department of Health is funding Icon Agency and our consortium partners Able Australia, The LOTE Agency and Winangali, to provide a free translation service for aged care providers across Australia. This service enables you to communicate key written and audio/video messages to those in your care for whom English is not their preferred language. This includes people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, deaf, blind and deafblind senior Australians.
