The Australian Electoral Commission AEC along with the Ethnic Communities Council of NSW will be delivering online community education sessions to support community participation in the upcoming federal elections.
These sessions will be held online (showing WA & Eastern Time Zones), and will be conducted in English, Arabic, Cantonese, Mandarin, Vietnamese and Hindi.
In December 2024, the Premier of Victoria, Jacinta Allan, announced several measures to address social cohesion challenges and strengthen community harmony. One of these measures was the launch of Victoria’s Multicultural Review, aimed at strengthening and celebrating our state’s vibrant multicultural communities.
The Review will be led by George Lekakis AO, a respected multicultural leader, who will be supported by a targeted advisory group of community experts, including Hass Dellal AO, Carmel Guerra OAM, Miriam Suss OAM and Mark Duckworth PSM.
As part of the Review, community consultation sessions will be held both online and in person across 10 local government areas in regional and metropolitan Victoria.
The Review will focus on shaping policies, institutions, and programs that reflect and support the needs of our diverse communities.
The Shepparton Community Consultation will take place on:
Tuesday, 6 May 2025
6:00 pm – 7:30 pm
Community Events Space (Room 210), La Trobe University – Shepparton Campus
210 Fryers Street, Shepparton VIC 3630
Your input is vital in shaping a future that promotes unity, combats discrimination, and strengthens social cohesion in our community.
We were proud to support educational workshops focused on improving emergency preparedness during the first 72 hours of a crisis — with a particular focus on our Hazaragi and Arabic-speaking community members. With interpreting support provided by our incredible leaders at the Ethnic Council, participants received clear and practical advice to help them better prepare, respond, and stay safe in emergencies. A heartfelt thank you to:

Their support ensured these important sessions were inclusive, impactful, and built on genuine community connection. The life size map of Shepparton and Mooroopna was also a big hit.
When we prepare together, we recover stronger.
It was a pleasure to welcome The Honorable Ingrid Stitt MP and other distinguished guests to officially re-open our newly renovated offices in Shepparton. This was a significant milestone in the ongoing growth and development of a vital community hub, which continues to serve as a cornerstoce for multiculturalism, inclusivity and support in our region. Thank you to the Honorable Jacinta Allan MP – Premier, for her kind wishes, ‘your work truly helps to make Victoria a more diverse and welcoming place. We’re proud to have supported your new facility, a fantastic upgraded building to fit the fantastic work you do’, acknowledged the Premier. We are thankful for the generous support of the Department of Premier and Cabinet (Vic) via their Multicultural Community Infrastructure Fund. The transformative renovation has modernized our spaces for community engagement, program delivery and community support.
