Community Leaders Information Session

Speak Up for People with Health Conditions and Illnesses

Community Leaders Information Session

Recently, we were proud to support and participate in the Speak Up for People with Health Conditions and Illnesses information session—designed especially for community leaders working across multicultural communities.
This important event created a safe, supportive space to share lived experiences, raise awareness, and build stronger advocacy networks. Together, we explored how to empower individuals from all backgrounds to access the care, support, and understanding they deserve.
A huge thank you to the organisers, facilitators, and community leaders who continue to lead with compassion, courage, and strength.
Let’s keep the conversation going—because everyone deserves to be heard, supported, and seen.

Empowering Our Community, Together

We were proud to support educational workshops focused on improving emergency preparedness during the first 72 hours of a crisis — with a particular focus on our PNG community members
With interpreting support, participants received clear and practical advice to help them better prepare, respond, and stay safe in emergencies.
A heartfelt thank you to:

  • Vic Police
  • SES
  • Greater Shepparton City Council
  • Crime Stoppers
  • Recovery in Resilience Team

Their support ensured these important sessions were inclusive, impactful, and built on genuine community connection.
The lifesize map of Shepparton and Mooroopna was also a big hit.
When we prepare together, we recover stronger.

Building Belonging Through Education

Over the past few weeks, the Ethnic Council of Shepparton and District has had the absolute pleasure of delivering our Social Cohesion Program with the wonderful Grade 5 and 6 students and teachers at Mooroopna Park Primary School.
Today marked our final interactive session, and what a way to wrap up! We’ve shared stories, explored cultures, built understanding, and strengthened connections within the classroom and beyond.
We’d love to work with more schools across the Greater Shepparton region to help create inclusive, connected learning environments. If you’re interested in bringing this impactful, educational and community-strengthening program to your school, please reach out to Vicki Scott.
