Crime Stoppers Victoria (CSV) and the Victorian Skateboarding Association (VSA) are excited to announce a new skateboarding program. This program is a community-based prevention program delivered by CSV and VSA, partnering with local youth employment and transition-to-work services to reduce barriers to employment and study barriers for young people across the state of Victoria.

Victorian Skateboarding Association will provide skateboarding lessons to young people aged 12 to 24 to discuss their future and employment opportunities while engaging in sports and recreation. VSA has an excellent track record in supporting and improving the capacity of young people to be socially, mentally, and physically active within safe spaces.

Their involvement in this project increases opportunities for youth connectedness by engaging with young people in an alternative sport. With their partnership, CSV hopes to increase young people’s resilience, self-reliance, and motivation.

The lessons will be held for the next two years in the council areas of Hume, Wyndham, Melbourne, Yarra, Brimbank, Geelong, Shepparton, and Ballarat. Each session will be held within the school term, with thirty spaces available per session and each class running for 1.5 hours. Beginner, intermediate and advanced skaters are invited and encouraged to attend. There will be 5000 spots available over the lifetime o the program.
