The School Based Traineeship Program for New and Emerging Communities is designed for students completing years 10 & 11, who are interested in a career with Victoria Police.

WORK PLACEMENT WITH VICTORIA POLICE

The School Based Traineeship Program for New and Emerging Communities is designed for students completing years 10 & 11, who are interested in a career with Victoria Police. Victoria Police, Skillinvest, Jobs Victoria have jointly created this program aiming to provide useful work experience and
employment pathway for a career in Victoria Police.

WHAT IS OFFERED?

The Program will be offered up to 24 months work placement to students completing year 10 & 11 at a secondary college. Selected students will work one day per week at a local police station in an administration. At the successful completion of a traineeship placement, students will get a Certificate III in Business from Skillinvest.

WHERE IS THE TRAINEESHIP OFFERED?

Please contact us to see if there are suitable police stations/work units in your local area that are participating in the School Based Traineeship Program.

HOW DOES THE TRAINEESHIP WORK?

Skillinvest will coordinate the traineeship between the secondary school and Victoria Police from start to finish. As the legal employer, Skillinvest will pay the wages and ensure the wellbeing of the trainees through regular contacts and support.

HOW & WHEN CAN I APPLY?

Year 10 & 11 students from the CALD/New & Emerging Communities are eligible to apply anytime. Online applications with a resume must be submitted from the Skillinvest website www.skillinvest.com.au. Applications will be assessed before a confirmation for placement is offered. Applicants must be willing to abide by Victoria Police’s Code of Conduct and agree to undertake a live fingerprint scan for police check. A placement can only commence after a police clearance.
