Heard Instinct is a pilot initiative co-designed by Multicultural Arts Victoria and a group of 10 emerging young artists of colour living in the Goulburn Valley region on Yorta Yorta country. The project is being developed to address a need for more self-determined opportunities for young artists of colour, to come together and be able to freely express themselves through the arts. The project has been made possible with support from Ethnic Council Shepparton, Gandel Philanthropy, Australia Council for the Arts and Creative Victoria.

Pasifka Festival 2019

The Pasifika Festival returns to Shepparton and Victoria Park Lake on 23 November. Many students in Shepparton Schools participating in the Know Your Roots workshops have been busy preparing for the Pasifika Festival and will be participating. The South Pacific comes to Greater Shepparton or the Goulburn Valley!

Know Your Roots – Update

The Know Your Roots model and program has been identified as a tool that elicits belonging and participation, a stronger sense of worth, resilience in the acceptance-rejection parameters of legitimacy, an abiding sense of social justice and equity in the Social Cohesion through Education Program. It is an element of the Social Cohesion through Education Pilot Project.

	The Ethnic Council of Shepparton and District acknowledges the Yorta Yorta People of the land which comprises the Goulburn Valley. We pay respect to tribal Elders, past, present and emerging and we celebrate their continuing culture and acknowledge the memory of their ancestors.
	The Ethnic Council of Shepparton and District is a peak body whose mission is to promote and represent the social, cultural and economic well-being of ethnic communities in the Goulburn Valley Region through the provision of quality and innovative settlement, refugee support, community development, and information and advocacy services.
