The Australian Multicultural Community Services says migrant homelessness is a “hidden problem” because many organisations don’t record CALD data. About 15 per cent of the homeless population are migrants who arrived in the past five years, the last census estimated. Some recent migrants told the ABC they slept on park benches or in a local Lion’s Club while waiting for housing.
