Mixed bag for multicultural communities – Ethnic Council of Shepparton and District

The Ethnic Communities Council of Victoria was pleased to see $3.7 million allocated to continuing the work of the CALD Communities Taskforce in the Budget this week, but are concerned about the overall reduction in targeted COVID-19 funding for migrant and refugee communities, which have been harder hit across the board. The budget included $23 million for regional settlement support, upgrades to multicultural community facilities, and delivery of festivals and events.

	The Ethnic Council of Shepparton and District acknowledges the Yorta Yorta People of the land which comprises the Goulburn Valley. We pay respect to tribal Elders, past, present and emerging and we celebrate their continuing culture and acknowledge the memory of their ancestors.
