Migration and the Refugee - The Art of Erwin FabianIn 1940, Erwin Fabian was deported to Australia alongside some 2000 other ‘enemy aliens’. He was a Dunera boy who was interned in Camp 2 at Tatura. He was just 25. Today, he is one of Australia’s most significant modern artists, with a decades-long career as a sculptor and painter. An exhibition of the work of Erwin Fabian opened at Tatura Museum on 15 September 2019 at 1:00pm.

Chinese culture on show at Shepparton’s Culture Corner

Shepparton's Chinese LionGreater Shepparton’s Chinese Community participated the monthly Culture Corner in Maude Street Mall on Saturday 5th of October from 10am – 2pm, showcasing some of their traditional clothing, music, food kung-fu and welcomed their new Chinese Lion with inauguration and blessing.

Chinese Culture Corner
Greater Shepparton’s Chinese Community will take over Maude Street Mall on Saturday 5th of October from 10am-2pm, showcasing some of their traditional clothing, music, food and their well known lion-dances. This event is presented by the Goulburn Valley Chinese Association.

Onam Celebrated in Shepparton

Onam – a festival observed in Kerala, South India, was celebrated in Shepparton. Onam, held in August and September for 10 days, originated in Kerala to celebrate the golden rule of King Mahabali. Lord Vishnu came to earth in the form of a dwarf Brahmin who trampled Mahabali to the netherworld. But Lord Vishnu granted the king’s sole wish i.e. to visit his land and people once every year.
