NDIS CALD Strategy update

The development of the new NDIS CALD Strategy for 2023-27 is nearing completion. The Strategy aims to improve outcomes for people with disability from CALD backgrounds to access the NDIS.

It has been developed through a co-design process with people with disability from CALD backgrounds, their families, carers and the multicultural community sector, including Shepparton.

Once the new Strategy receives formal endorsement from external stakeholders in August, it will go through a translation and design process and be publicly released in November-December.

Homelessness Week 2023 – Walking Home

Salvation Army LogoThe Salvation Army conducts a “Walking Home” – walk around Victoria Park Lake on Friday 11 August 2023 from 11:00am-1:00pm – to observe Homelessness Week 2023. The Theme of the week is “Together we can”. The Walk around the lake commences at SAM, and there is a free sausage sizzle afterwards. Many community organisations are participating, including Greater Shepparton Foundation.

VMC recognises Hazelman for contribution to CALD community

A stalwart of the Shepparton CALD (culturally and linguistically diverse) community, Chris Hazelman has been celebrated for his contribution to the Ethnic Council of Shepparton and District.

Mr Hazelman was presented with a trophy plaque by Victorian Multicultural Commission chair Viv Nguyen as a token of appreciation for his service to the Ethnic Council at the VMC Hume Regional Advisory Council meeting on Thursday, July 27.
