SBS Learn English: ‘Australian Citizenship’ series – Ethnic Council of Shepparton and District

Taking the Australian Citizenship test can be daunting. That’s why SBS Learn English has launched the multilingual video and podcast series ‘Australian Citizenship’ to help new migrants prepare for the test regardless of their English language level.

Hosted by Wiradjuri actors Luke Carroll and Angeline Penrith, the video topics include Australia’s people, democratic rights, system of government, laws and cultural values – as well as a special segment on understanding what a referendum is.

The series breaks down important colloquial vocabulary such as ‘fair go’ and ‘mateship’ and explains important concepts like ‘referendum’ and ‘double majority’ in an easy-to-understand and entertaining format.
