Women and Local Government

Victorian Local Governance AssociationThe Victorian Local Governance Association is conducting an Afternoon Tea for the Womens Charter Group – Women’s Champions, and an Information Session on running for local government on Monday, 18 November 2019. These sessions are free, and are open to women from Culturally and Linguistically Diverse communities.

What do councils do? What is the role of a councillor? How do I become a candidate and how do I get elected?

If you have ever asked yourself these questions, or if you need to know more before you take the leap and decide to run, this free and informative workshop is for you. Women across the state – just like you – have a significant contribution to make to public life. Your connections to community, your skills and your unique perspective mean you are rich with potential to be a great local councillor.

A free workshop for women considering running for local government.

Open to all women in the Goulburn Region (Moira, Greater Shepparton, Strathbogie, Mitchell and Murrindindi).
