The Commonwealth Scholarships Program for Young Australians is part of the Australian Government’s $585 million Skills Package, Delivering Skills for Today and Tomorrow.

The program will continue to be delivered in Shepparton and surrounding locations which include: Mooroopna, Tatura, Kyabram, Echuca, Numurkah, Nathalia, Cobram and Yarrawonga.


The Commonwealth Scholarships Program for Young Australians offers the opportunity for eligible Youth aged 15-24 years old and Ex ADF (transitioned within the last 2 years, no age restrictions) who are enrolling or looking to enrol into a Vocation Education and Training course to apply for a scholarship worth up to $14,500, this will provide financial assistance for costs directly related to studies.

The Commonwealth Scholarships Program for Young Australians supports Youth and Ex ADF in gaining critical employability skills, which are embedded in VET qualifications, as well as hands on work experience through completing a 20 day internship or mandatory work placement as per course requirements, enabling them to enter in the workforce in gaining sustainable employment in projected growth industry.

Flexible study methods for students include in class room face to face learning, Online/distance learning and blended learning which in the current circumstances is advantageous. 

Successful scholars will receive fortnightly payments for the duration of their course and an additional $3,000 for completion of Work Placement as per course requirement or a 20 day paid internship with a local business giving the scholar hands on experience which is sourced by myself on behalf of the scholar and BUSY At Work.

To be successful applicants must be:

  • Aged 15 -24 Years old,
  • Not currently employed full time or enrolled in Secondary School,
  • Living in the Shepparton Region (Region includes surrounding area’s such as: Mooroopna, Tatura, Kyabram, Echuca, Numurkah, Nathalia, Cobram and Yarrawonga)
  • Have commenced study or are looking to study an eligible Vocational Education and Training (VET) qualification at a Certificate III to Advanced Diploma level; and
  • Interested in studying a course which leads to an eligible occupation in demand.
