Youth Outreach Recovery Support

 mental health community support serviceThe Mental Health Community Support Service offers a Youth Outreach Recovery Support program across five regional local government areas: Shire of Moira, City of Greater Shepparton, Shire of Strathbogie, Shire of Mitchell and Shire of Murrindindi. This service is available for youth aged 16-25 years of age and is a free service.


What is the Youth Outreach Recovery Support program?

The Youth outreach recovery program (YORS) is a mental health community support service, for young people 16-25years of age who are experiencing mental health symptoms.

The Youth outreach recovery program provides supports for young people, to support them to help them reach capacity at better managing their mental health and achieve goals and live independently. YORS services provides outreach support for short to medium periods of time.

  • Build strengths
  • Try new things
  • Increase confidence
  • Set and achieve goals

Who will benefit from The Youth outreach recovery program?
Young people from 16-25 years who are experiencing mental health symptoms or significant psychological distress, who need support for their wellbeing. Priority will be given to young people with ongoing mental illness, disabilities, or unmet wellbeing needs. It will complement case management supports, to the young person who may be receiving other services, by providing a psychosocial therapeutic response to tailor the needs of a young person.

This is a 12 month non crisis support program; we can work alongside services to assist with applying for housing and create budgets and linking in with clinical support services as required please note we are unable to provide housing.

How to refer?
Young people can self-refer to a Youth outreach recovery program or a referral can be made on behalf of a young person with their consent by, but not limited to family members, carers, schools, community groups, youth services, GP’s, mental health clinicians, Headspace, PARCS and anyone providing support to a young person.
