But millions of high-risk older Australians aren’t getting recommended vaccinations against COVID, the flu, pneumococcal disease and shingles. Some people are more likely to miss out, such as migrant communities and those in rural areas and poorer suburbs.
The Country Fire Authority has provided fire safety information in 12 languages. It is expected that Victoria will face challenges with fire safety this coming summer. Information is provided in Arabic, Cantonese, Hakha Chin, Hazaragi, Hindi, Karen, Mandarin, Malay, Nepali, Punjabi, Urdu and Vietnamese.
In the wake of the tragic car accident in Mansfield where four young Samoan men, working with Flavorite in the PALM Scheme, were killed when the car hit a tree and was burnt out – there will be a Candlelight Prayer Service at the Shepparton Uniting Church on Saturday 25 November from 4PM. Anyone may attend.
Windermere is a community support organisation which has capacity to provide in-language support for several languages. This is a joint-funded program of support for those involved in the 2022 Flood disaster in Shepparton and surrounds. This support is free and available to multicultural community, and those who have recently arrived in Australia and experienced floods. The support includes financial support, replacing lost items, insurance advocacy, business support and referrals for mental health support. This service is offered as a one-to-one service in Shepparton.
The Bridge Youth Service offers Early Intervention Programs in support of young people. This program is open to young people aged 12 – 26 located in the Greater Shepparton, Mitchell and Murrindindi Shires, and outreach support is provided. This support is available to young people who have recently arrived from overseas – migrants, refugees, and children of asylum seekers.
