English language centre welcomes donation

Donation of bikes to SELC

Shepparton English Language Centre has recently received five refurbished bicycles, thanks to Shepparton Central Rotary Club.

“Victoria Police Shepparton generously donated a number of bikes a few months ago,” the club’s international and community service director Sam Atukorala said.

“Thanks to the support of the Shepparton Central Rotary Club and the expertise of Leigh and Brett from Leading Edge Cycles, these bikes have been repaired.

Muslim women leadership trainingThe Centre for Muslim Wellbeing is offering a scholarship for Muslim women to participate in a four-month-long leadership development program designed to cultivate confidence and empower them to become leaders in their communities, families, and workplaces. Report on flood preparednessIn partnership with Neighbourhood Collective Australia and Regional Victorians of Colour, the Ethnic Communities Council of Victoria has made a joint submission to the Parliamentary Inquiry into the 2022 Flood Event in Victoria. The submission is based on more than 30 interviews and focus groups with members of migrant and refugee communities in flood-affected regions across Victoria, and makes recommendations for the planning, preparedness and response to future flood events.

Multicultural Seniors Support Program

The Andrews Labor Government is supporting seniors from multicultural communities to foster stronger community connections and promote vibrant local activities.

Minister for Multicultural Affairs Colin Brooks has announced that more than 1,000 multicultural seniors’ organisations will benefit from a significant investment in the Multicultural Seniors Support program.

An investment of $2000 is being provided to each community group to deliver social and cultural activities, purchase equipment and establish digital support networks. Recipients also benefit from complimentary public liability insurance and group accident cover.

THE Filipino Australian & Friends Association (FAFA) organised a remarkable event at Pepper Mill Inn on June 23 to commemorate the 125th Philippines Independence Day. The celebration was a grand success, filled with incredible performances and a lively atmosphere.

The event showcased a diverse range of talents, including an energetic MC, talented singers, and a variety of group dancers who wowed the audience with both modern and folk dances. The performers were adorned in stunning regalia that added to the visual spectacle. Additionally, a talented ukulele group entertained the audience with their skills.
