Multicultural Health Connect is a national service provided to help CALD and ALL MULTICULTURAL PERSONS to have access to health information in their language. Interpreter services are provided free of charge. You can call Multicultural Health Connect to find health services such as doctors, hospitals and community health centres, to get advice from a nurse, learn about COVID-19, including managing the disease, COVID-19 vaccines, isolation and close contacts. All this is FREE

Last week, ECCV and Ballarat Regional Multicultural Council co-hosted a gathering of Victoria’s regional Ethnic Communities’ Councils (ECCs). The meeting of CEOs and Board Chairs from ECCS in Albury-Wodonga, Shepparton, Geelong, Gippsland, Sunraysia Mallee and Loddon Campaspe aimed to build greater collaboration and coordination of state-wide responses to the issues impacting Victoria’s regional migrant and refugee communities.

The Humanitarian Settlement Program promotes the skills and knowledge needed for people from refugee and humanitarian backgrounds to begin their new lives in Australia and to build the skills to participate in Australia’s economic and social life.

The Chair plays an important role in leading a successful organisation and committee. They are vital in guiding the behaviour of the committee both in meetings and outside in order for the organisation to achieve its goals. A committee can be led through good governance and supporting documentation, however the Chair, in particular, monitors and guides committee members to make positive contributions. The Multicultural Honour Roll recognises outstanding community members and organisations who go above and beyond to support, celebrate and advocate for Victoria’s multicultural communities. Sam Atukorala, of the Ethnic Council of Shepparton and District, was one of the Inductees for 2022.
Refugee Week is from Sunday, June 19 to Saturday, June 25. During Refugee Week, the Ethnic Council of Shepparton and GOTAFE – the local TAFE education provider – will host several activities directly addressing the Refugee experience.
Tenants Victoria provides guidance to people seeking rentals. Tenants Victoria been working with grassroots community groups recently to conduct interactive online information sessions for renters whose first language is not English. There is an invitation to conduct discussion groups locally.
