The Shepparton Syrian Association recently hosted a fundraiser at St Paul’s African House for earthquake victims in Syria.

The event enabled people in the Shepparton community to support their families overseas.

Many community groups showed their support for the cause, including the Greater Shepparton Nepalese Community, St George’s Rd Primary School and Picnic 4 Peace.

Picnic 4 Peace president Liz Arcus helped to host the event, alongside the Shepparton Syrian Association.

She said the night was filled with lots of fun, with traditional music, dancing and lots of good food.

“It was nice to see the community coming together in support,” Ms Arcus said.

“Everyone was sharing stories of family and friends, and it was a successful night.”

They were able to collect more than $2000 to go towards those affected by the earthquakes, with the most coming from the Greater Shepparton Nepalese Community group, which raised $410 through its own events and fundraisers.
