A lesson for the future is that someone’s language skills should not exclude them from important information.

COVID-19 testing help for non-English speaking Afghan and Congolese community

Bilingual Afghan and Congolese community members are helping out at one of the Shepaprton COVID-19 testing sites.Bilingual Afghan and Congolese community members are helping out at one of the Shepaprton COVID-19 testing sites. The Ethnic Council of Shepparton and District is working in conjunction with the Victorian Department of Health to provide the bilingual workers at the Graham St facility.

Australian Citizenship – Study Course

Australian PassportCommunity Hub and Wilmot Road Primary School along with Ethnic Council of Shepparton and District are offering a free course for anyone seeking Australian Citizenship. The course is centred around a study of the questions contained in the test. The course is free and commences on Thursday 20 May 2021. This is an English Medium course. Interpreters will be in attendance.

Chris Hazelman OAM, Manager of the Ethnic Council of Shepparton and District Inc., delivered the Annual Report for Ethnic Council of Shepparton and District activities for the year 2020 at teh Annual General Meeting held on 28 September 2020. The report focusses on the response to Covid-19 and the challenges this placed on staff with the delivery of programs and service delivery to those seeking assistance of Community Development officers.
