The Victorian Multicultural Commission and Tenants Victoria will jointly host a multicultural renters forum online – Wednesday 6 March 2024, 7:00 pm to 8:00 pm.. Attendance is FREE and this is important to all refugees, asylum seekers and CALD community members to attend and learn their rights.
Resource for rooming house residents
Check out the new resource, the Rooming House Residents Handbook. It’s a practical guide explaining people’s rights when they move into a rooming house, while they live there and when they move out.
Rooming houses often operate in apartments or houses, with living areas converted, or even subdivided, into bedrooms. Residents may not even realise they are living in a rooming house instead of a share house.
Our handbook explains how to know if you are living in a rooming house and the rules the rooming house operator needs to follow.
Survey on Rental Racism
Have you been a renter in the last 5 years and think you have been treated badly or unfairly in rental housing due to your racial background? Melbourne University and Tenants Victoria would like to hear from you. Your participation in this survey might make matters better for you and others.
Forum on renting for Afghan community
Tenants Victoria will hold a forum on rental rights with live translation to Dari. This forum will be online on Wednesday 6 December from 7pm to 8.30pm.
